Our client, a prominent player in the Automotive Technology Industry, had ambitious goals to harness the power of AI and data science to revolutionize their products, services, and customer experiences. This involved the development of a cutting-edge AI platform to generate insights and optimize product development, as well as exploring the impact and benefits of implementing eco mode in their vehicles. Additionally, they aimed to create predictive services for electric vehicles (EV).

It all starts with data and having a clear vision for utilizing it to gain a competitive advantage. At evolv, we have built a practice dedicated to bringing the most forward-thinking visions to life. The client wanted to demonstrate their progressive vision and application of next-gen technology at the 2023 New York Auto Show. Through our partnership with Toyota, evolv was selected as the implementation vendor to support the client in this endeavor.
We worked closely with our client to understand their objectives and define the project scope. Our team of Machine Learning engineers built an AI platform, ensuring seamless integration with the client’s existing systems and future ML Ops capabilities.
Furthermore, we collaborated with our client’s engineers and data scientists on two pilot projects: AI Art generation for Lexus and the Toyota Eco-mode study. For the latter, we designed and executed a comprehensive week-long study involving over 2,000 corporate-owned vehicles and analyzed data from more than 2.5 million miles driven.
Over a span of 4 months, our team developed a generative image model and application that allowed users to interact with and “drive away” their ideal RX or RZ. Behind the scenes, this generative AI model utilized a multi-cluster GPU, over 100,000,000 indexed simulations, and a combination of OpenAI, DALL-E, Node.js, and Python.
Throughout the process, evolv provided ongoing support to ensure the AI platform remained up-to-date and optimized for peak performance as our client leveraged it for additional projects.

- The model was trained on more than 500 photos of each vehicle, capturing every detail imaginable.
- The stable diffusion model was trained on the LAION-5B dataset for backgrounds, artistic styles, and detailing.

- This engagement follows the successful launch of Lexus Performance Driving School’s first non-fungible token (NFT) last year.
- The eco mode study revealed significant collective benefits, including:

- The equivalent of sequestering 748 trees for 10 years
- Saving 5,091 gallons of gasoline
- $18,304 in fuel cost savings
